This movie is for the RIP VI on-screen peril. It's about a wealthy young woman and her husband (Katherine Ross, James Caan) who take into their home a cosmetics saleslady (Simone Signoret) who claims to know an old school friend of the young woman, becomes ill while showing the cosmetics, is invited to stay, and eventually recovers and joins in the kinky mind games the couple like to play among themselves and others which eventually lead to tragic circumstances. Delightfully twisty ending. This 1967 film is hard to find but I located a DVD (had a VHS but player ate it) on www.ioffer.com for $7.97. Amazon has the VHS but it is $89.00!!
Here is my first review, the screenplay of Frankenstein for the National Theatre by Nick Dear, Produced by Danny Boyle.
ReplyDeleteOops, I guess I should have added the name of the book after my name...lol Ghost Story ;)
ReplyDeleteReview of the first RIP book is up now; Zombie Apocalyse! by Stephen Jones. Bit of a crap reviw though. Sorr.
ReplyDeleteMy first RIP review is up for "Shadow of The WInd" - great read!

ReplyDeleteMy first reads by Amanda Stevens were the perfect intro for RIP.
ReplyDeleteHello! Looks like I'm a little late to submit my review. But I enjoyed the process of reading for this challenge very much.
ReplyDeleteThanks:)
Just submitted my review. Wow, there are already a ton of reviews here. Can't wait to read them. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's been great participating :)
ReplyDeleteBook review number two is up now. This time it's Shaun Hutson's debut novel Slugs. Took longer than usual to read as I've been busy moving and going back to uni.
ReplyDeleteI've got some compulsory reading which could be called horror/gothic though so reviews will continue to appear.
Book review of Dead Brides by Edgar Allan Poe is posted. Enjoying all the reviews! Happy Autumn!
ReplyDeleteI've completed the challenge!! Four books in less than a month - that's good for me. :)
ReplyDeleteI'll be back next year! Thanks so much for hosting, Carl!

Published my first proper RIP review - and my first review for Peril the First. I need to get cracking - 3 more books to go!
ReplyDeleteTrying to figure out why the direct link did not take. Only my name showed up, not the link to the Sheridan Le Fanu post. Will try again.
ReplyDeleteBook review number three is now up. This time it's James Patterson's Bloody Valentine, part of the Quick Reads collection. Not reading as fast as I expected but uni and house searching are to blame for that.
ReplyDeleteFinally I've posted my first review!
ReplyDeleteoff to a slow start, *I really need to quit reading so much fanfiction* but here's the 2nd review up, "The Casebook of Victor Frankenstein". Now on to "Flash and Bones" by Kathy Reichs
ReplyDeleteI've been reading, now I need to start reviewing!
ReplyDeleteHalf way through my challenge - two down, two to go! And I've posted the reviews. Really enjoying this challenge so far! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteDoh! I forgot to add the title of the book I read for the challenge. It's called House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski. This is a great challenge and this book was a perfect choice for it!
ReplyDeleteWell I seem to have gotten on a role, just posted reviews for books 4 & 5, now on to the next!
ReplyDeleteI love the R.I.P. challenge just posted a brief post on Hunger Games, which I might just make my second challenge read, although I may squeeze in a couple more before the end of the month. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to say that I did not like Drood, but I have a few other books that I'm reading, which are (so far) proving to be much better - especially The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern.
ReplyDelete3 books read! I need to get at least one more in before the 31st. Perhaps a short story…Poe or Connolly? Choices ,choices.
ReplyDeleteOpps, sorry about the double link! I accidentally hit enter before I corrected the link to my review.
ReplyDeleteThird one down...Loving this R.I.P <3
ReplyDeleteI only just now posted my first book review (but I have 3 more coming!).
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for hosting this challenge, Carl. Because of this I finally read In the Woods by Tana French which I loved. I cannot believe I waited so long to read it. Now, less than a week before this challenge ends, I have a long list of RIP Peril qualifying books I want to read! lol
Isn't that always the way?!
Thank you!
Just posted my final review, of a delicious short-film by up-and-coming young director/writer Mattson Tomlin. Go check it out.
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting the event, Carl!
Thanks for hosting this event, Carl! For some reason, I couldn't find the link to link up my reviews. So, rather than inundate you with links, here's the link to my Murder, Monsters & Mayhem wrap up:

thanks, Carl. I had a great time with this year's challenge. Reading Dracula was a great experience, as was discovering the Spanish-language version of the 1930s classic (filmed at the same time...who knew?).
ReplyDeleteI'm already looking forward to next year!
I apologize if I entered a review more than once. The list is so huge and I can't remember if I added some of my earlier ones or not. =O)
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm a few days late, but I finished Peril the First. Brilliant. Thanks for another great RIP Carl! :)
ReplyDeleteThank all of you so much for your participation!!!
ReplyDeleteFirst three reads finally reviewed ... many more to come, of course!
